This teacher training is the culmination of a lifetime of embodied experience.
Simon has taught thousands across the globe and lived through countless health challenges himself. Drawing on the wisdom of teachers from India, China, Tibet, and beyond, this training goes far beyond learning postures—it’s about experiencing yoga as intelligent, healing movement.
Developed over 40 years by physiotherapists Simon Borg-Olivier and Bianca Machliss, the Yoga Synergy Method blends Western medical science with traditional yoga wisdom. Simon studied personally with Sri B.K.S. Iyengar, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and Sri T.V.K. Desikachar. The result is a safe, dynamic, meditative flow that thousands worldwide have benefited from. Bianca and Simon have successfully trained teachers globally for over 20 years.
5-Dimensional Flow explores the common origin of all natural movement, from yoga to qigong, martial arts, dance and therapeutic exercises. It centres on the idea that movement, breath, and even emotions originate in the lower abdominal region—the seat of your enteric nervous system (the “gut brain”). By reconnecting with the five main “dimensions” of core and trunk movement, adults can rediscover the natural fluidity often lost in modern life.

Throughout the 10 days course, you will gradually learn the 5 practices of this system:
▪ Mind Synergy: Learn to synchronize your thinking brain with your action brain, which enables a flow state - calm and powerful zone - includes: the 12 key bridges between the conscious and unconscious systems; using voice, chanting and breath work; self-massage techniques; dynamic meditation through joint and spinal movements; static seated meditation for deep internal stillness.
▪ Joint Synergy: Learn to initiate movement from your core rather than your limbs, reducing wear and tear on the joints, resulting in greater longevity, pain-free movement, increased in strength and flexibility in the arms and legs.
▪ Spinal Synergy: Learn how to move your trunk in the four primary directions, giving you benefits of improved spinal mobility and core strength, more energy and vitality, back pain relief and improved function of internal organs.
▪ Breath Synergy: Learn to coordinate breath with the 3 dimensions of your trunk, helps to increase physical and mental energy, promote deep sense of calmness and emotional balance, enhance digestive, reproductive and immune system health.
▪ Core Synergy: Explore how your core can move in 5 dynamic ways within 3 dimensional space. This is a gateway to Yoga Synergy, Qi Gong, Internal martial arts, dance and creative expressions, therapeutic applications for musculoskeletal and medical conditions.
Using knowledge from the morning practice to integrate through movement sequences which we call it Yoga Synergy.
You’ll understand how to access postures through natural, core-initiated movement, developing strength without tension while flexibility increases without strain, improving blood flow without overexerting the heart, synchronizing breath, movement and mental focus into a meditative state, allowing the thinking brain and action brain to work together in harmony.
This isn’t just a 10-day workshop, it’s a gathering of dedicated movers, thinkers, and kindred spirits.
Every year, we come together not only to learn from Simon’s deep well of knowledge, but also to share meals, stories, laughter, and genuine connection.

It introduces key elements of the 5D Flow system, but it’s only a glimpse of what Simon brings. In the full workshop, you’ll dive deeper into how to integrate these principles into your yoga practice or any movement system you work with.
Simon Borg-Olivier, MSc BAppSc (Physiotherapy) APAM c-IAYT, has been practicing traditional forms of posture, movement, breathing, and mental control for 50 years. He has been teaching for 40 years and has been a registered physiotherapist for 25 years.
Simon works as a research scientist and a University lecturer. He has been regularly invited to teach about lifestyle, posture, movement, breathing, and meditation at conferences, festivals, and intensive teacher training courses internationally since 1990.
He is also co-director of YogaSynergy, one of Australia’s oldest and most respected yoga schools, which has a style based on a deep understanding of modern medical science and traditional forms of exercise and therapy from all over the world.
Simon has studied with great traditional masters from Tibet, Japan, India, and China. Along with his business partner and fellow physiotherapist, Bianca Machliss, Simon has co-authored many books and scientific articles including ‘Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga’, which is the textbook for two courses they teach at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.
Currently, Simon conducts intensive training courses in India, Bali, Europe, and Australia. He also teaches many online courses on the applications of posture, movement, and breathing for fitness, internal health, wellbeing, and longevity.
I've been a practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism, and my yoga journey began before 2009, but it was in that year that I started real practice with my first yoga teacher. I began teaching Ashtanga-Vinyasa in 2010, and from 2012 onward, I deepened my studies through several Universal Yoga trainings.
Over time, I felt something was missing, especially in the understanding of anatomy. That search led me to Simon Borg-Olivier. Since 2014, I’ve trained extensively with him and have had the honor of hosting him in Thailand every year since 2015.
Simon’s teachings transformed my yoga practice and teaching. Over the years 5D Synergy Flow has become my main style of teaching along side with Bodhidharma practices and meditation.
Every year, I continue to learn from Simon. His teachings never stop evolving, and neither do I. It’s a joy to keep growing through his wisdom and to share that opportunity with others. I warmly invite you to join us in Thailand and experience it for yourself.
