Knee muscle co-activation
Learn how to simultaneously activate opposing muscle groups around the knee to create stability, strength, and support for the knee joint complex.

A live 3-part online masterclass series with Simon Borg-Olivier - molecular biologist, physiotherapist, yoga educator.
This is not a meal plan or diet rules. It’s a deep education in the mechanisms of food, digestion, breathing, and how yogic practices change your relationship with eating.
Learn the knee-strengthening and stabilising principles Simon used to recover from severe knee injuries without surgery.
In 1985, Simon had the first of several serious accidents that severely damaged his knees. One of the worst involved a ruptured ACL, a torn medial ligament, and damage to the medial meniscus. In another accident, he fractured his kneecap and suffered deep bruising in the shin bones.
In this practical 2-hour live masterclass, Simon will share the principles and techniques he developed as an exercise-based physiotherapist to strengthen, stabilise, and protect the knees in daily movement, exercise, and yoga practice.
In 1985, I had the first of several serious accidents that severely damaged my knees. One of the worst injuries I suffered involved a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), a torn medial ligament, and damage to my medial meniscus in my left leg. In another accident, I fractured my kneecap (patella) and suffered deep bruising in my shin bones (tibia and fibula).
Faced with these challenges, I turned to my teachers from Tibet, Japan, India, and China, combining their wisdom with my knowledge as an exercise-based physiotherapist. Through years of study and practice, I developed a a set of unique exercises that successfully healed my knees—without surgery. This has not only restored my own movement and strength but has also helped hundreds of people recover from knee injuries and regain pain-free mobility.
In this course, I will share the exact techniques that helped me heal, strengthen, and protect my knees, so you, too, can move with confidence and ease.
“Surgery is not the only solution to your knee problem. You can use simple posture and movement to strengthen and stabilise your knees to improve knee function and reduce chronic pain.”
— Simon Borg-OlivierThis masterclass is based on Simon’s knee therapy principles: knee muscle co-activation, intelligent alignment, and pain-free movement modification.
Learn how to simultaneously activate opposing muscle groups around the knee to create stability, strength, and support for the knee joint complex.
Simon will explain how the quadriceps, hamstrings, inner thighs, rear calves, and outer calves can help support and stabilise the knee.
Learn how to modify movement by changing range, speed, knee angle, and muscle activation so you do not aggravate pain or injury.
Many knee problems are connected to hip stiffness, ankle stiffness, weak lower-limb muscles, or poor whole-body coordination.
Understand principles that can apply to ligament injuries, meniscus problems, patella maltracking, and hyperextended knees.
Learn how to apply knee-support principles in standing postures, squats, lunges, kneeling, sitting, transitions, and daily movement.
Knee injuries can happen when people try to manipulate themselves into postures without enough hip mobility or knee muscle control. This is especially relevant in modern yoga, where students may force cross-legged positions, deep squats, kneeling, lotus-like shapes, or lunge-based postures.
Simon’s approach helps you move actively into postures, modify the knee angle when needed, and use muscle activation to protect the joint rather than relying on passive force.
The first part of the session will focus on Simon’s knee recovery story, knee function, and the principles behind co-activation. The middle section will include practical techniques. The final 30 minutes are reserved for live Q&A.
If your knees feel painful, stiff, weak, unstable, or sensitive in daily life, this class gives you a clearer framework for moving with more confidence.
If you have dealt with ligament strain, meniscus irritation, patella tracking issues, hyperextension, or recurring knee discomfort, this class gives you practical principles to understand.
If your knees feel stressed in standing postures, squats, kneeling, cross-legged sitting, or transitions, this masterclass will help you practise more intelligently.
If you work with students who have knee limitations, Simon’s approach can help you understand safer modification, progression, and support.
Everyone who registers for the live masterclass will receive a special post-class offer for Simon’s complete Knee Therapy online course.
This is for students who want a more complete step-by-step approach, including detailed instructional videos, practice sessions, bonus material, and the full supporting eBook PDF.
Sent by email after the live session.
No. The masterclass will be recorded. Everyone who registers receives lifetime recording access through Simon’s HHL platform.
After buying the masterclass, you will be asked to create a free account on Simon’s HHL platform. The recording will be added there after the live session.
Yes. Simon will explain how knee-support principles can be used in postures, squats, lunges, kneeling, cross-legged sitting, and other movement situations where the knees may be stressed.
Yes, the class is designed for people with knee discomfort, reduced function, instability, or injury history. However, it is educational and not a substitute for personal medical advice.
You are welcome to attend, but please follow your medical guidance and only practise what feels safe. The masterclass can help you understand principles, but it cannot replace individual rehabilitation advice.
Special live price includes the 2-hour Zoom masterclass, Q&A, and lifetime recording access on HHL.
A Live 3-Part Series That Changes How You Understand Food
This is a three-part live masterclass series designed to be taken as a whole.
Each session builds on the previous one — moving from why we eat, to how digestion is regulated, to how to apply these principles to build your ideal diet in real life.
Rather than telling you what to eat, this series gives you a clear physiological framework for understanding hunger, digestion, energy, and food choices — informed by yoga, breath-control, and modern science.
You can join individual sessions, but the full value emerges when you follow the entire progression.
Each part includes live teaching, live Q&A, and access to the recording.
"I consider Simon a modern-day body mechanics wizard."
When I saw Simon for my knee consultation, I could hardly walk... What I learned from Simon were simple, effective exercises that immediately gave me a significant increase in movement and a decrease in pain.
